Gold Coast Chic

After moving into this Gold Coast condo, the homeowners knew they had to re-do the kitchen--which was very 90s with dark cherry cabinets and a dark granite countertop. Because the building is structural concrete there wasn't much that could be done with layout. Instead, the homeowner focused on modernizing the look by choosing a Poggenpohl style modern cabinet in medium gray with a high gloss finish and a white quartz countertop.  However, they love color. The wife wondered if there was a way to bring in the same tones as the Kitchenaid mixer she had just purchased. After searching high and low for a backsplash tile that had the right feeling, we changed course and did a back painted glass backsplash.  It maintains the sleek, modern feeling while bringing in that pop of color, and some of the homeowner's personality. It is also very easy to clean.
